trains

A time schedule for a commuter railroad. Yesterday was my birthday & I took the train to Grand Central Station to meet-up with friends in Manhattan. Hooray!

Nextdoor

A building next to the church. It seems empty. Maybe it used to be a theater??

Shamrocks and leprecauns

Shops

Some shops around The Bronx still have St Patty's Day decorations in their windows. I think this should be declared St Patty's Month, instead of there just being a St Patty's Day.

A view from marching

Yes, I marched in the St. Patrick's Day parade. Here is my view. Notice the fancy shops in the background; 5th Ave is lined with expensive shops.

St Patty's Parade

So sorry for the delay! We had a terrible storm here in NYC on Saturday. The electricity was knocked-out in my section of TheBronx, as well as the heat for my home! The electricity came back on March 17th, so I charged my camera and ran out to take pictures for you of the St Patrick's Day Parade!
This is a photo at the end of the parade. A group marched representing County Meath (a section of Ireland). Here they rest their banner against the Guggenheim Museum on 5th Ave at the end of the long parade! A very New York moment.

Time

This one has weathered time.

Detail

I like the detail at the bottom of this one. (P.S, sorry about yesterday, some computer problems!)

Another one

I like the torch on the top of this one. Or is it a beacon like the one The Statue of Liberty holds?

Helpfulness

Some parts of NYC still have call boxes. Basically, a couple of decades ago, not everyone had telephones. So these boxes were placed on corners so if there was an emergency, or if your house was on fire, you would be able to contact help. A lot of them have been taken down, but I still find a few around. Looks like this one was possibly hit by a car.

A Memorial

A memorial to Native Americans who fought in a war. I will try to get some details when snow stops covering part of the writing!

Snowman

Some kids made a snowman in the park. And there is more snow expected this week!

No baseball today

Snow covers a baseball field in The Bronx. The cage protects audiences from being hit by the ball. Notice, in the distant shot, that the bleachers where people sit to watch the game are also covered in snow. Oh well, I guess that means we should take a break until spring!
